Holy Land “Verdicts”: Curiouser and Curiouser

The Dallas Morning News has a stinging editorial on the Holy Land Foundation verdicts yesterday. I’m not a legal scholar, but I don’t  recall another important case in which jurors simply “left most counts blank.” Naive soul that I am, I thought the point was to reach some kind of conclusion so we’d, like, you know, know who did what and all.

The News editorial carries an extra note of bitterness because their reporters have been bird-dogging this local affair for years, long before the “War on Terror” got going. Taste the bile here if you like.

The government now claims they’ll retry some of the defendants, assuming they decide to stay in the country for a rematch. We’ll check back around 2009 or so as those wheels of justice turn ever so slowly.
